How to enable two-factor authentication (2FA)

A step-by-step guide to setting up two-factor authentication on your Pandektes account.

Written by Rasmus Raagaard Larsen

To make your account more secure, we’ve enabled two-factor authentication (2FA) for all users.

This means that, in addition to your password, you’ll need to confirm your identity with an extra code when you sign in. This makes it much harder for anyone else to gain access to your account.

Below is a guide to setting it up.

Step 1: Sign in to your account

When you sign in, you’ll see a request to enable 2FA, which looks like this:

You can then choose how you want to verify your sign-in. We recommend using an authenticator app, as it’s the most secure method.

Step 2: Choose your verification method

Option A: Authenticator app (recommended)

If you choose to use an authenticator app on your phone, simply open the app and follow its steps to scan a QR code.

  • In Google Authenticator, tap the + in the bottom right-hand corner.

  • In Microsoft Authenticator, tap the + in the top right-hand corner.

Once you’ve scanned the QR code, enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app and click Continue.

If you’d prefer a different method, click Try another method at the bottom. You’ll then see three options:

  • Authenticator: as described above

  • Email: you receive a code by email

  • SMS: you receive a code on your phone

Option B: Email

If you choose email, a code will be sent to the email address linked to your account. Simply enter the code to continue.

Option C: SMS

If you choose SMS, you’ll be asked to select your country code and enter your phone number on this screen:

A code will then be sent to you, which you need to enter and confirm.

Tip: whichever method you choose, we recommend ticking Remember this device for 30 days. That way, you won’t need to enter a security code every time you sign in.

Step 3: Save your backup code

Once you’ve finished, you’ll be asked to store a one-time recovery code somewhere safe. It looks like the screen below, where the code appears in place of the black box:

Click Copy code and paste it somewhere secure, such as a protected document or your password manager.

Then tick the box I have safely recorded this code and click Continue.

That’s it. Your setup is complete and your account is now securely protected.

Good advice

  • If you change phone, remember to move or set up your authenticator app again.

  • Never share your codes with anyone.
