How to install Pandektes in Word

A guide to installing Pandektes in Word

Written by Rasmus Raagaard Larsen

This article shows you how to install Pandektes in Microsoft Word.

Pandektes for Word is an add-in that lets you use Pandektes directly in Word. Once the add-in is installed, you can open Pandektes as a panel alongside your Word document and work on legal research, drafting, rewording and suggested changes without leaving Word.

Before you start

To install and use Pandektes in Word, you’ll need:

  • access to Microsoft Word

  • an active Pandektes account

  • an internet connection

  • permission to install add-ins in Word

In some organisations, Word add-ins are managed centrally by the IT department. If you can’t install Pandektes in Word yourself, your Microsoft 365 administrator may need to make the add-in available to you.

If your organisation manages add-ins centrally

In some organisations, users can’t install add-ins in Word themselves. This is usually because the organisation’s Microsoft 365 administrator controls which add-ins can be used.

If you can’t find Pandektes in Word, or you receive an error message when trying to install the add-in, your IT department may need to make it available to you.

Your IT department can usually do this in one of the following ways:

  • install Pandektes centrally for the whole organisation (recommended)

  • add Pandektes for specific users or groups

Please contact your IT department and ask them to make Pandektes available via the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Installing via the Microsoft 365 admin center (recommended)

If you’re a Microsoft 365 administrator, you can install Pandektes centrally for users in your organisation.

This is usually done via the Microsoft 365 admin center, where the add-in can be assigned to selected users, groups or the entire organisation.

Add-ins can be deployed through the Integrated apps page, as shown below.

You can either search for “Pandektes” under Get apps, or upload our XML file via Upload custom apps. The XML file is attached below.

Please note: once the add-in has been deployed centrally, it can take up to 24 hours to appear in Word.

Installing Pandektes directly in Word

In some cases, you can install Pandektes yourself directly from Microsoft Word.

Step by step

  1. Open Microsoft Word.

  2. Go to Home in the top menu.

  3. Click Add-ins.

  4. Search for Pandektes.

  5. Select Pandektes.

  6. Click Add.

The add-in will now be added to Word and will be available in the top right-hand corner of the Home tab.

Signing in to Pandektes

The first time you open Pandektes in Word, you’ll need to sign in.

Use the same email address you normally use for Pandektes.

If your organisation uses single sign-on (SSO), sign in through your organisation’s usual sign-in process.

Once installation is complete

Once the Pandektes add-in is installed and you’re signed in, you can start using Pandektes directly in Word.

Among other things, you can:

  • ask questions about your document

  • get help rewording text

  • receive suggested changes as tracked changes

  • draft new clauses and sections

  • use legal sources directly from Word

Troubleshooting

I can’t find Pandektes in Word

If you can’t find Pandektes under Add-ins, it may be because your organisation manages add-ins centrally.

Contact your IT department and ask them to make Pandektes available to you.

I can see Pandektes but can’t install it

If you can find Pandektes in Word but can’t install the add-in, this is usually due to missing permissions in Microsoft 365.

Contact your Microsoft 365 administrator and ask them to check whether you have permission to install add-ins.
